Arthrur Jones the genuis scientist of bodybuilding, made the nautilus pullover machine to exactly avoid these exercises and exclude the most involvement of arms, and focused of 98% of Lats engagement.
The purpose of this was to show a few exercises that are pretty decent alternatives to a stand-alone machine. By no means am I trying to say any of these are better or more effective than a Nautilus Pullover.
Hello, I like the shoes you're wearing in this video. What are they?
Nike Metcon 3. I’ve had 2-3 pair but they’re hard to find now because Nike is now on 9 or so.
How is the quality control of Powertec? I bought a Sissy Squat from another company, but had to return it because it was so uneven and sloppy made.
I have purchased a lot of equipment from Powertec and everything has been consistently well made, nicely packed, and performs as it’s supposed to.
@@HomeGymHacksandReviews Thanks buddy👍
@@Daniel-qp8ro glad to help!
hey peoples says that it is mid range biased and normal preacher curl is long range biased what that means?
If using the lever arm the resistance is most difficult in the middle of the movement (it’s not really anything I notice).
I wanted to see the machine being used and to hear your opinion as someone in my county is selling one on Facebook. My opinion is if I can get it for a steal, I will try it and if I don't like it I can resell it and get all my money back plus gas. I have back pain for 30 years so I am curious to try it. Thanks.
I no longer have this machine. If possible, I would try it before you buy it. I have friends who don’t like the exercise and I know other people who swear by it. It’s a big, heavy machine, so it’s not much fun to move, assemble, and disassemble (especially if it’s the deluxe version).
@@HomeGymHacksandReviews I'm trying to get it cheap so I can resell it if I have to.
Hi, have you still go this? Do you recommend after having for so long?
I don’t have this anymore. If you’re okay with loading your spine, I certainly recommend it. I got to the point where I got so strong on the machine that I started to worry about my lower back (of course, I could have done high reps and less weight).
I wanna play a game lol
I have this power rack. I would like to get the powertec row handle. Did you have it or try it ? Thx 😉
Never tried it.
@@HomeGymHacksandReviews Ok i think i would get the Ironmaster row handle.
@@jmk.3943 that’s certainly more versatile.
Great review, do you know if the Powertec fly attachment would be compatible with Body Solid Benches?
Thank you. The tube is approximately 1 3/4” x 1 3/4” - I don’t recommend using these attachments with other benches but I’ve seen some people make it work.
6:52 looking swol! 💪
With the Ironmaster ultimate row, viking press Can be done ? Thanks
I don’t think that’s an exercise I ever tried; I’m not sure it would be very stable.
The paint of the calf block is shiny ? Thx
I describe it as flat black.
@@HomeGymHacksandReviews i had this calf block bought many years ago. The the appearance was less smooth. I had also the dumbells bought 19 years ago Now the plates and the paint seems better ?
@@jmk.3943 I’m not sure without seeing the two side-by-side (I’ve only owned the products they’ve released in the last few years). I think the paint job is good on all Ironmaster products.
GENIUS
Thanks so much!
Do you prefer using the powertec leverage gym or a classic barbell power rack workout ?
The Levergym.
How many 45s can you fit on each side of this?
With the plates I have, about 8 per side which would exceed the machine’s 700 pound max weight capacity.
@@HomeGymHacksandReviews Thanks! So there’s no need to get the 100lb plates everyone seems to say you need for it. How heavy do you usually go with this if you go that deep?
@@RonMexico527 a lot of things to consider. How strong you are, your rep range, your range of motion. If it’s a slow, stretched, paused rep, 8 45s is all I need. In my review for the Leg Press Attachment, I load the sled up pretty heavy (not a huge stretch), but you can see how difficult I find heavier weights.
why you don't speak about the hack of powertec pec fly? if you mount your arms backwards and use handles the resistance profile feels low even without elastic bands
This is an old video. I think you’re talking about the hack I showed in one of my newer videos.
I got a real one its more real than Doz's i got it off Roger Dalrey of the WHO its the two cam type pre 1984
Hey, I don't see it listed, but I am ordering the IM2000 soon thanks to you. Do you have an affiliate link with ironMaster so I can help you get some commission?
That is really cool of you. Thank you. No, I am no longer an affiliate with Ironmaster.
Going to forsure get one this black friday.
I hope you like it as much as I do.
how did Titan not figure this out?
Maybe on V3.
The lateral raise is so clever!
Appreciate it.
Hey does the wobble during dips prevent you from hitting failure? Wondering if the dip attachment for the super bench is worth it over a dip squat rack attachment.
The wobble wasn’t really noticeable under normal conditions but a squat rack dip attachment will definitely be more stable and more adjustable.
Did you ever use the IM1000 Smith Machine? Theres a couple used ones around me for cheap, but I'm not sure if its risky since they are probably 25+ years old.
I used it a lot for about a year. I would check it out in person. There are models before the one in this video that look a little different but it’s still basically the same machine.
@@HomeGymHacksandReviews These were made in the USA too right? Do you think this type of machine can last that long? Not sure if IM2000’s parts can be used on the IM1000.
@@RonMexico527 All of my Ironmaster equipment was made in Taiwan. I think the IM 2000 has a lifetime warranty. If it was kept indoors it should be fine. As for parts, that would be a question for Brian at Ironmaster. He and the company have excellent customer service and he will help anyway he can.
@@HomeGymHacksandReviews Awesome thanks! But overall you liked the IM1000 just as much as the IM2000?
@@RonMexico527 I’m sorry. I never used the IM1000. I misread your initial question. As long as the bar has the polymer inserts that travel along the guide rails, it should be as smooth as the IM 2000. I wouldn’t pay over a couple hundred but if it’s around that price, it’s worth at least checking out in person.
Curious, what makes this feel more like a hack squat than a leg press? Is it where the weight is loaded?
Sitting upright, the platform being stationary and being over the weight rather than laying back with the weight above you and the platform moving. I have a new review for the new model of this machine if you want to check it out.
Could the hyper core attachment also be used for incline nordic curls? Like does the foot holder slide up far enough to get your knees on the pad? Also, do you think the hyper core would be just as good for preacher curls as the preacher attachment?
I think the foot peg is too small for a quality Nordic curl. No. I think the preacher is better for preacher curls; the Hyper Core is pretty tall.
Are the handles made of plastic? I read a German review that claimed they were and one broke.
Rubber around a plastic sleeve that revolves around a metal post. I’ve had three of these over the years, and never had a handle break. I have a newer review for this attachment. I modified the arms and I don’t even use the handles anymore.
@@HomeGymHacksandReviews OK - thanks for the fast response.
What’s the make and model of that machine? Looks good how compact it is
It’s the Powertec Compact Leg Sled. Pretty small footprint aside from the weight horns. I have a full review for this new model if you want to check it out.
I'll definitely get one of this once i move to the new house. This lat machine is the perfect combination for the force usa g3 V2.
I hope you like it as much as I do.
@@HomeGymHacksandReviewsoh, I will. Already have the powertec multipress with leg and curl attachments and I love it. Powertec don't save on protection and everything came out of the box without a single scratch, and for me it was a sign, straight out of the box, how much they care about their customers. And obviously the multipress is amazing. Really love powertec products, too bad they don't have a cable machine with a smith like other brands.
@@Bikes_and_Hacks really good to hear. Although it’s not a functional trainer, the high / low pulley option can be connected to the Roller Smith.
@@HomeGymHacksandReviews I just uploaded a video of my DIY high and low cable fly on my low cost rack, if you want to check it out and tell me what you think, I would greatly appreciate 😁
Great video and channel man I hope your health journey has continued to get better man
Thank you. I really appreciate it.
I got my Nautilus Super Pullover off Roger Daltry of the WHO over 40 years ago best machine ever made
Very cool!
Do you think the ROM plates could be bolted to the previous model of the levergym? The shape of the support post looks the same.
It would take someone who is pretty skilled to make that modification safe and as sturdy as the machine comes from the manufacturer.
Love your content!!!
Thank you!
When u add a different attachment to the preacher do u just use a chain and clip ?
It depends on the attachment. Some attachments can connect right on the Preacher’s pin and some need a chain or 1/2 chain with a carabiner.
Hi, how come you decided to go with a squat rack-free home gym? Didn't know you used to have one.
I’ve had 3 squat racks over the years. I dropped the Squat Rack mainly because of my back. As long as I stay away from barbell squats, barbell rows, barbell overhead presses, etc. my back and neck are fine.
Curious, would you prefer the IM2000 or Powertec Smith in terms of value for the money you spend?
That’s a tough call. If you want a lot of add ons and extras, The IM 2000. If you want to save space and money, The Powertec. If you haven’t seen it, I have a new review for the Powertec Smith where I go into a little more detail.
@@HomeGymHacksandReviews Did one of them feel more stable than the other?
@@RonMexico527 not really. Both can be weighed down with plates on the storage posts for additional stability. The IM2000 has a 1,000 pound max weight capacity and the Powertec has a 450 pound max weight capacity (some of this is related to the gauge of steel used).
Great video as always. Does the footplates raise the machine a bit? I have the same machine and the middle flat plate doesn’t touch the ground as the holes for the middle plate are raised a bit. My machine shakes a bit because of it. I ordered the footplates to remedy this. With the footplates is the middle plate needed?
Thank you. It raises the machine ever so slightly (like a fraction of an inch). My middle plate was slightly raised before the footplate and it is still slightly raised. However, it is not raised so much that the bench doesn’t roll over it. If I disassembled the footplate and made an adjustment, I could probably get it lower. A few years ago, I removed the footplate, but out of an abundance of caution, I bolted it back on. It really depends on the exercises you’re doing and if the bench is attached. If you’re doing a lot of squats, Viking presses, etc., it may be wise to leave. If the bench is always connected, I personally don’t think it’s necessary.
@@HomeGymHacksandReviews Mine is raised as well. Tried to get it lower to no avail. I took the footplate off and left it on with no apparent difference in stability. Since it is raised i don’t think it does much of anything but get in the way since technically its not even touching the ground. Thank you for the quick response and informative channel. You personally probably saved me thousands. Keep up the good work, one of the best home gym channels out there. It’s no accident we have the same equipment. You have more but i dont have as much room as yourself( wife didnt let me go crazy) But i have the same bench, levergym, compact leg press, attachments etc. You basically helped me build my home gym, its literally perfect for my needs thanks to you!
@@chelious1973 I really appreciate that and I’m glad you’re happy with your Powertec equipment. The footplate mainly adds stability if you’re standing on it and it could keep the machine from tipping if you’re doing some unique exercises.
@@HomeGymHacksandReviews I see. Never thought of that. I will try it out when i receive them. Keep up the good work. Looking forward to your next video. 👍
@@chelious1973 thanks so much.
very happy to know they were made in TAIWAN!!🎉
I think every Ironmaster piece is.
Thankyiu for an honest analysis on the minuses of expensive equipment. Good luck I growing your channel.
Thanks so much.
As I’m getting older, I’m looking at ways to work out more safely. The multi press is at the top of my list. I really appreciate all of the work you put into your reviews
Thanks so much.
For the legs I see that you added one more set. Originally DC 3 day split you should do 1 heavy set 4 - 8 reps + 1 widowmaker set (20+).the end.
In some of Dante’s writings, there are 2 work sets and the widowmaker.
@@HomeGymHacksandReviews yes, you have a lot of costums splits, I meant the original ones. Great channel tho
@@HomeGymHacksandReviews i tried myself adding more sets, but is too much and I do not recover optimal, 2 sets till failure beat me up
@@luka2pac thanks so much.
@@luka2pac I didn’t add the second work set until my second or third year doing DC. I started DC in 2006 and did it for many years. When I made this video series a few years ago, it had been a while since I had done DC and I found out in my 40s, I just can’t recover from DC Training the way I did when I was in my 20s or 30s. So, I definitely hear what you’re saying about an extra set being too much to recover from.
These are the best for me because they go up to 40kg that is more than enough. The problem is that they want 200 dollars for shipping in EU plus the customs fee. They should have a retailer in Europe as well. You americans have so many options
I would go with the Ironmaster Adjustable Dumbbells if they are more cost effective for you in EU.
@@HomeGymHacksandReviews to be honest the ironmaster aren't really the quick adjustable like nuobell or Bowflex, they are just normal adjustable which I have dumbbells like these . I bought the Bowflex 1090 which are heavy enough to complement my barbell compounds
They're sold in Europe, under different brand names. And yes, they're more expensive here.
How did you hook up the Angles 90 grips on the Nautilus pullover machine?
The same way it’s done on a pull-up bar.
Do you like this over the powertec leg press or sled?
I think it’s more versatile.
@@HomeGymHacksandReviews I am stil on the fence but I am probably leaning towards the rhino. thanks
@@TheGhu123 glad to help. If possible, you should find a gym that has one and try it out. There are some people who don’t like the way this feels and I don’t want you to spend all this money and be unhappy.
Do they sell the leverage part minus the bench?.. that would be sweet
No. The Levergym has a detachable bench, but even then, the machine is not sold separate of the bench. The bench’s horizontal function is helpful for getting the correct position for a lot of exercises.
Awesome Vid man, thanks
I appreciate it. Thank you.
Awesome review! I'm looking into buying one myself. What are the size of the uprights and the hole sizing? Thanks for all you do brother
I really appreciate it. Thank you. Unfortunately, I no longer have this machine so I can’t double check the specs for you.
Hi there , can i use non olympic weights ?
Powertec sells standard posts so, yes, you can swap the Olympic Posts out for Standards.
Hi mate, I almost purchased the leg press attachment but came across a chanel called hybrid resistance who didn't talk as highly of the attachment as you. Now I'm confused lol.
Conflicting reports certainly makes purchases more difficult. I had the attachment for a while and spent a lot of time testing it and finding the settings that work best for me. Among all of Powertec’s leg machines, I ranked it the lowest, although that doesn’t mean that it’s not good. I like it and not every machine or attachment is going to work as well for everyone. I will say, if I didn’t find value in the Leg Press attachment, I wouldn’t have it in my gym.
@HomeGymHacksandReviews I run a private semi private gym and need it to suit more people than it doesn't. On viewing yourself using it, to me it looks great, the other reviewer I thought was almost hoping for it to fail. Pity I couldn't get a trial run but my nearest store is a plane journey lol
@@tonygillespie6907 if you operate a gym, a stand-alone machine will be a better option. I think the attachment is best suited for home gym use. Further, if you can keep the attachment connected full-time, it’s an extra bonus. My wife and I both use it once a week and even with her knee and hip repair surgeries, she finds a lot of value in the LPA. Further, it doesn’t create any undo pain unlike some other exercises, including lunges.
